Police Community Support

Thames Valley Police (TVP) are responsible for policing in the Milton Keynes area, of which Shenley Church End Parish forms a part.  Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has  a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team, which are led by senior police officers and include Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

TVP supply 2 PCSOs who cover our parish, and are able to tackle local minor crime and anti-social behaviour. The PCSOs are under the day-to-day operational control of the TVP local command, but are for the most part patrolling in our Parish.

Our current PCSOs are PCSO Christine Capstick and PCSO Craig Cairns.  You will probably have seen them about the Parish, often on bikes.  If you see one of them, stop and say hello.

Now you may ask just what a PCSO does, How do the differ from a police officer? Well, below is a brief summary of the kind of powers they will have:

• Demand names and addresses of people acting in an anti-social manner

• Seize alcohol and tobacco from young people

• Seize vehicles used to cause alarm or harassment

• Remove abandoned vehicles

• Carry out road checks on vehicles

• Disperse groups and take youths home if they are acting anti-socially

• Stop cyclists riding on pavements

• Traffic warden powers

Let’s hope that many of you will meet our PCSOs (in a lawful capacity of course!) and make them welcome in the parish.
